he Association of Process Industry (ASPRI) has been a pivotal partner of the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council. Through close collaboration, ASPRI has provided valuable insights towards the WSH Council’s efforts in raising the WSH performance within the process construction and maintenance (PCM) industry.
2020 has been a tough year for Singapore, and the entire world. With the COVID-19 pandemic changing the way we live, work and play, many companies, including those from the chemical industries, find themselves having to adapt and operate in a new reality. Only time will tell how global supply chains will be reconfigured, and how the global economy will fare in the coming years ahead. However, amidst the turmoil, we must continue to maintain the high WSH standards that the Chemical Industries are known for.
As a pioneer and leading industry in WSH for many years, I am glad to note that the chemical companies have set several good examples in tackling this pandemic. Through raising awareness, implementing split team arrangements, enabling contact tracing, and enforcing safe distancing measures at the workplace, these actions contribute greatly towards protecting employees at the workplace.
In addition to workplace safety, I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage employers to Take Time to Take Care of your employees’ physical and mental health. There is a direct relationship between health and work performance, and it is important to pay close attention to any early warning signs, and safeguard the physical health and mental well-being of our team members.
On behalf of the WSH Council, please accept our congratulations on the successful publication of the 2020/2021 edition of the Directory of Singapore Process and Chemicals Industries. ASPRI has greatly contributed towards building and strengthening WSH within the PCM industry, and the WSH Council is glad to be part of this journey. We hope to maintain this relationship for many years to come.
Chairman, WSH Council (Chemical Industries) Committee
